Seismic shifts in the diagnostic landscape have been triggered both by the introduction of the DSM-5 and by its articulation with the ICD-10-CM, all in anticipation of the global adoption of the ICD-11 in 2018. This workshop provides a context for understanding the ICD-10 in relation to the DSM-5 as a way of anticipating further forthcoming changes. It is designed for professionals who have a working knowledge of psychodiagnosis and are interested in understanding the key features and revisions of the DSM-5 and the way in which it articulates with the ICD-10 in support of more effective diagnostic practice. Features of the DSM and the ICD are compared and contrasted, and a “crosswalk” between the two systems is detailed in relation to a range of disorders that commonly present in community and independent practice contexts.
Who should attend?
This workshop is designed for clinicians, clinical supervisors, program managers and executives in substance abuse, mental health, prevention agencies, Managing Entities and DCF program staff.
