This workshop is designed for executive leadership to understand the benefits of creating an environment of recovery orientation through successful methods of integrating peer positions and activities into the workplace operations and culture.  The presenter will identify roles, responsibilities and accountability practices that support client and peer accountability for recovery planning and values and identify different approaches and interventions that Peers can use in various types of service settings.

Who should attend?This workshop is designed for clinicians, clinical supervisors, program managers, prevention agencies, community coalitions and executives in substance abuse and mental health agencies, Managing Entities and DCF program staff.

Presented by:
Dixie Morgese is a Certified Addiction Professional through the Florida Certification Board and is currently the Executive Director of the Healthy Start Coalition of Flagler-Volusia Counties. She has over twenty years’ experience developing and implementing systems of care to serve communities in the areas of maternal child health, family risk, and resiliency, HIV and addictions. Before Healthy Start, Dixie provided technical consulting, quality monitoring, and staff development for Health and Family Service entities throughout the state of Florida. Recently, she attended the Policy Academy through the National Center on Substance Abuse and Child Welfare (NCSACW). This initiative provided technical assistance focused on developing readiness and capacity related to action planning and systems change to improve outcomes for women with substance use disorders and their children through the development of Safe Plans of Care for infants and children under the CARA and CAPTA Act legislation.

Since 2011, Ms. Morgese has employed peers at the Healthy Start Coalition in various programs. Dixie has been in recovery since 1987 and is very active in various recovering communities. She works to mentor recovering people and develop leadership skills aimed at capacity building, reflective self-care, and excellence in the workplace.
