Preventing Suicide in Florida "A Strategy Paper"
by the Florida Task Force on Suicide Prevention James McDonough, Chair, Director of Office of Drug Control The purpose of this strategy paper is to provide policy to Florida's state and community leaders in order to decrease the incidence of suicide in Florida.

Substance Abuse and Mental Health Service Administration - Focus Adolescent Services: Teen Suicide
Is an internet clearinghouse of information, resources, and help. This page contains information and resources on teen suicide, risk factors, prevention and intervention. Click on State Directory than Florida for Florida links to hotlines and helping organizations.

Florida Initiative for Suicide Prevention, Inc.
FISP is dedicated to changing those factors in our communities that contribute to an environment of alienation, hopelessness and helplessness and will strongly advocate for public awareness. This is a Florida grassroots not-for-profit advocacy organization with a multi-faceted mission.

The Beth Foundation
The Beth Foundation Inc., is a non-profit organization dedicated to reducing the suicide rate in Florida through education and awareness. The Beth Foundation was established to provide training to increase the general knowledge about the nature of suicidal behavior, how to respond and refer a suicidal person for help and to provide a central clearinghouse for suicide prevention information and resources.

Florida State Plans for Suicide Prevention
This web site provides information on the progress of each state regarding suicide prevention efforts. Under "Documents to Download", you can access the Florida Adolescent Suicide Prevention Plan which is a report from the task force for Adolescent Suicide Prevention.

Law Enforcement Suicide: A hidden epidemic
Central Florida Police Stress Unit, Inc. provides a 24 hour hotline. This link contains information regarding the impact stress and suicide take on Florida's police officers. Police Officers are eight times more likely to die by their own hand than by homicide, a study by University at Buffalo epidemiologists has shown.

Lifeline of Central Florida
LifeLine is a non profit organization established to provide crisis services to individuals and families in the Central Florida Area. LifeLine has been providing a range of free crisis services to Central Florida since 1965.

The Public Health Indicators Data System (P.H.I.D.S.) allows you to access current public health indicator data to create your own custom reports. For instance, if you would like to compare the number of deaths due to homicide, suicide and AIDS in your county this is where you would be able to generate the information for a custom report.
