Mission
The Florida Community Coalitions Prevention Center works to provide Florida's communities with information, resources and a single point of contact to help them reach their goals of community mobilization, sustainability and improved quality of life for their residents.
Vision
We envision coalitions across the State of Florida, organized and active, building drug-free communities. These coalitions will engage every segment of their communities: businesses, schools, parents, law enforcement and youth. Together, as partners, these segments of the community will identify their strengths and opportunities and collectively create and implement plans of action for their anti-drug efforts.
History
The Florida Community Coalitions Prevention Center is a priority of the Governor's Office of Drug Control Policy in partnership with the Florida Alcohol and Drug Abuse Association, the Florida National Guard, the Community Anti-Drug Coalition of America, and the Florida Department of Children and Families.
Florida's community coalitions play a vital role in preventing substance abuse in Florida's communities and meeting the goals of the Florida Drug Control Strategy.
The Florida Alcohol and Drug Abuse Association Community Coalition Project began in the early 2000s, offering information specifically for community coalitions including funding opportunities, technical assistance, resource "hot topics" and "hot links." Community coalition members also receive the electronic newsletter, the E-Xchange, providing timely and relevant information about funding, technical assistance resources, and state and national prevention activities.
