Peer Review Project Workbook
Each year, the Florida Clinical Consultation for Treatment Improvement Project or Peer Review Project reviews eight substance abuse treatment programs throughout the state. Each participating program is given - at no cost - the opportunity to have the "fresh eye" of trained peer consultants help them move to the next level of service for their clients.
A team of consultants (2 to 3 individuals) visit an agency for approximately 2 1/2 days. The consultation visit typically begins with an introductory meeting in which the consultation team, the clinical director, and designated agency staff review the purpose and goals of the visit, as well as the schedule of events.
The visit will then proceed with a review of client records as well as interviews with the agency staff and clients. The consultation concludes with an interactive meeting of open dialogue in which the findings of the visit are discussed along with helping you formulate recommendations for initiating an action plan.
This is not an audit or a monitoring visit. Rather, this is a service provided to assist your agency in improving the delivery of services to your clients.
The Florida Clinical Consultation for Treatment Improvement Project Workbook [Excel Spreadsheet, requires password to open] is used by the consultants during their visit. Each consultant enters data into the workbook on client information, program information, etc. The workbooks are merged and the resulting document is the culmination of the consultation visit. From this document, overview comments on strengths, weaknesses and recommendations are written. The agency receives a copy of the overview document during the final interactive meeting.
Follow-up contacts are made by consultants and continuing assistance is available to help sites with action plans.
The Florida Clinical Consultation for Treatment Improvement Project or Peer Review Project is coordinated by the Florida Alcohol and Drug Abuse Association, Practice Improvement Department through a contract with the Florida Department of Children and Families, Substance Abuse Program Office.
